Use to convert the character.
p If you cannot convert the character to the target one, press to
highlight the character you want to convert and press a few
times until the target character appears.
Take “

” or “

” off the character or change the reading (Chinese
reading/Japanese reading) and reenter.
p Repeat pressing to display the Conversion Candidate List;
then you can select the target character.

Fix the rest of characters in the same way.

p The FOMA phone enables you to convert plural paragraphs at a time.
You can enter up to 20 hiragana characters for a conversion and to
convert up to six paragraphs at a time.
p If you cannot convert to two or more kanji characters at a time, convert
them one by one.
p
The number of characters that you can convert is limited so you might
not be able to convert some Kanji. You can use Kuten Code to convert
to Kanji characters that you cannot enter. The number of characters
you can enter is 6355 in the JIS level-1 and level-2 kanji sets.
p
Part of complicated Kanji is deformed or left out.
p To enter Hiragana, you can select from conversion candidates or press
before conversion.
p
When the number of characters after conversion exceeds the number
of characters that you can enter, a confirmation display to that effect
appears. Press “YES” to fix the characters to the maximum.
p
When you enter the i-mode mail text on the Message Entry display, the
Character Entry (Edit) display appears by pressing any of the numeric
keys. You can use the Function menu of the Character Entry (Edit)
display.

Numbers of remaining characters and
entered characters
The number of characters in the Character
Entry (Edit) display is counted according to the
following rules:
In the Character Entry (Edit) display for each
function, “
” (End mark) is inserted to the end
of characters that you can enter for that
function, so let the end mark be an estimate for entering.
p
One half-pitch character is counted as one byte and one full-pitch
character as two bytes.
p One full-pitch character applies to two half-pitch characters.
Full-pitch:
あいうえお
5 characters (counted as 10 bytes)
Half-pitch:
アイウエオカキクケコ
10 characters (counted as 10 bytes)

Combination of characters
When entering characters, pay attention to the combination of
characters.
<Example>
When you are entering “
ドコモ
” in half-pitch Katakana
input mode and “
の携帯電話
” in Kanji/Hiragana input mode

p The number of characters that appears on the display is nine and
counted as 14 bytes that equal 14 half-pitch characters.
p Half-pitch character “

” are counted one character.

Scroll
On the Character Entry (Edit) display, you can press to scroll row by
row, and press to scroll page by page. On the Candidate List
display for Kanji conversion, press to scroll row by row, press
or to scroll page by page.

To insert a character
In Insert mode, press to place the cursor on the character (just) to
the right of the position you want to insert that character and enter it.
The character is inserted into the cursor position.

To delete a character
Press to place the cursor on the character you want to delete and
press .
The character on the cursor is deleted.
When no character exists after the cursor, the one character to the left of
the cursor is deleted.
p When some characters are after the cursor, press and hold for at
least one second to delete all characters on and after the cursor.
When no characters are after the cursor, press and hold
for at
least one second to delete all characters to the left of the cursor.
