d) Notes on the Programmable Functions
„1“ = Brake
When the brake is programmed to „off“, the motor will shut down unbraked after throttle is taken away (motor off).
Set one brake to additionally electronically brake the motor after throttle is taken away (motor off). Activation of the
brake is recommended for folding propellers.
„2“ = Rechargeable battery type
Independently of the setting of the battery type (NiCd/NiMH or LiPo), the connected number of cells is determined
automatically (if the battery is full).
To avoid harmful deep discharges of the battery, the motor‘s output is reduced matching the cell number and battery
time or the motor switched off in time by a programmed undervoltage recognition (characteristic programmable, see
item „10“ = undervoltage deactivation (Conduct at undervoltage)).
Undervoltage recognition may be defined or switched off in the following menu item „3“.
„3“ = Undervoltage recognition
In this menu item, you can specifically define undervoltage recognition specifically. For NiCd/NiMH, we recommend
65%, for LiPo 3.0 V/cell.
You have the following setting options:
1 = 2.8 V/LiPo-cell (50% at NiCd/NiMH)
2 = 3.0 V/LiPo-cell (60% at NiCd/NiMH)
3 = 3.2 V/LiPo-cell (65% at NiCd/NiMH)
„4“ = Works settings
If this function is programmed, the flight controller is in the delivery condition again.
„5“ = „Motor timing“
This setting influences motor running characteristics (similar to early ignition of a combustion engine).
You have the following setting options: „Automatic“ (recommended); „low“ (timing between 7° and 22°) and „high“
(timing between 22° and 30°.
Motor timing depends on many factors. For general settings, you may use the following values for reference based
on pole number of the motor:
Motor pole number
Recommended timing
2-pole motor
0° to 5°
4-pole motor
5° to 10°
6 - 8-pole motor
10° to 15°
10 - 12-pole motor
15° to 25°
as of 14-pole motor
25° to 30°
