MFD Plan Mode
The following (Figures 16-39 and 16-40) is
present with “PLAN” view selected:
• North Arrow is displayed to the left of the
range circle. The PLAN view is always
oriented "North-up."
• Heading is presented as a relationship
between the north arrow, that represents
true north and the direction of the minia-
ture airplane symbol as it rotates and trav-
els along the flightplan.
• Flight Plan Skip is a viewing option that
enables the operator to skip through the
waypoints in a FMS flight plan using the
SKP menu (selection on the JOYSTICK
menu). A maximum of 10 waypoints can
be displayed at a time, and once the last
waypoint has been selected, the display
will advance back to the airplane present
position.
MFD Display Areas and
Annunciations
MFD common symbols annunciate naviga-
tion information to the flightcrew in four dis-
play areas:
• Upper Right Area
– True Airspeed
– Static Air Temperature
– Groundspeed
• Upper Left Area
– FMS source annunciator
– “TO” waypoint
– Distance and time-to-go to “TO” way
point
• Mid-Left Side
– Wind speed and vector
– WX modes and tilt
• Mid-Right Side
– Map designator bearing and distance
Common to both navigation displays (MAP
and PLAN) are the following annunciations:
• "TO" waypoint identifier (magenta) des-
ignates the next waypoint on the flight
plan.
• Distance is presented in nautical miles as
a value from the airplane's present posi-
tion to the "TO" waypoint.
• Time-To-Go (TTG) provides a display in
minutes, of the time to fly to the active way-
point, based upon the present groundspeed.
• True Airspeed (TAS) is presented on the
format as a digital readout in knots as
provided by the ADC.
• Static Air Temperature (SAT) is displayed
as a digital readout in degrees Celsius, as
provided by the ADC.
• Groundspeed (GSPD) is presented as a
digital readout in knots as provided by the
FMS source.
• Wind Display is presented as a digital
readout of magnitude, and a magnetic di-
rection indicator or arrow. Both displays
are provided by the FMS.
• Range markers are provided for both
MAP and PLAN formats. The range
markers provide a digital readout of the
selected range along with a range ring. In
MAP the range ring is 1/2 the radius of
the arc. In PLAN the range ring is a full
360° circle. The following ranges in nau-
tical miles are available for each option:
– MAP or PLAN ranges are: 5, 10, 25, 50,
100, 200, 300, 500, 1000
