failure, faults or overheating.
The windshield anti-ice/defog system is se-
lected on by depressing the L and R WSHLD
switch/indicators (S/Is) located on the anti-ice
control panel (Figure 10-2). When the sys-
tems are off, an OFF caption is illuminated on
each S/I. When selected on, each S/I is blank,
with no caption illuminated.
During normal operation the controller regu-
lates the output of the alternators to maintain
the windshield temperature between 80° and
110° F. If there is a fault in the circuitry for
normal operation, the system can continue to
operate in a degraded mode. In the degraded
mode the output of the alternator is no longer
modulated and the controller cycles power
full on to the windshield at 70° F and off at
125° F. The controller continues to cycle power
on and off between these values when oper-
ating in the degraded mode. A “L or R WSHLD
HT FAULT” message is displayed on CAS
