Model 1010 Ion Mill 

Standard Magnification Version 

Basic Shutdown Procedure 

1.

 

If the instrument is vented, click 

Pump

 in the Ion Milling program. Verify that that 

the vacuum level is 2x10

-5

 torr. 

2.

 

Close the 

Ion Mill

 program by clicking 

X

 in the top right corner of the program 

window. The instrument will remain under vacuum. 

3.

 

Log off the computer. 

4.

 

Shutdown the computer through Microsoft® Windows. 

5.

 

Press the switch on the lower rear instrument panel (mains) to the 

OFF

 position.   

6.

 

Shut off the valves that supply gas and water to the instrument.
