1.2 Method of operation
The SPC-10 is enclosed in an aluminium housing and
performs the following tasks:

•
it determines characteristic system values of the con-
nected components
•
it saves the desired end positions
•
it specifies the two end positions
•
it compares the nominal and actual positions and
controls positioning by means of the proportional di-
rectional control valve (status control).
The SPC-10, the valve, the cylinder and the poten-
tiometer are connected to form a closed-loop control
circuit. The position of the slide or of the piston repre-
sents the control variable in this control circuit. This cir-
cuit is therefore also called a positioning control circuit.

In the following section the terms piston and slide have
the same meaning.
The following diagram shows the principal structure of a
positioning control circuit with the SPC-10.
