Description of Foot/Ankle DPA Coil 3
This coil enables examinations of standard size feet and ankles, and large
size hands, wrists and elbows. It has a shoe-like shape and its internal
dimensions are 9.35 x 27.75 x 15.4 cm (w x d x h) with an inclination of
+10°. The coil must be worn by inserting the region to be examined from
above and then resting it on the lower section of the coil.
It is equipped with a base that engages in the internal guide of the gantry
(A in fig. 8.4) and a quick connector (B in fig. 8.4) to ensure electrical
connection to the gantry and automatic recognition of the coil. Press the
lever (C infig. 8.4) to release the coil at the end of the examination.
A special cushion is available for ankle examinations (see chap. 9) for
insertion between the coil and limb examined. This cushion ensures
correct positioning of the region examined.
Use rectangular cushions type P so that the region examined is positioned
correctly and securely, but delicately, locked in place with respect to the
coil, thus preventing any movements that may cause artifacts on the
image.
