3.4.3 SPECIFIC ARRANGEMENT FOR CALIBRATION IN HCL AND NH

3.4.3.1 Calibration by gas cylinder
Calibration of analyzers measuring HCl, HF and NH
3
require a specific procedure for the injection of
gas due to the very rapid trapping of the HCl, HF and NH
3
in the presence of humidity. A sweeping
device of nitrogen or water-free air (H
2
O<10ppm) from the HCl, HF or NH
3
pressure regulator valve is
to be used.
CAUTION: Do not use the same pressure regulator valve successively on the cylinders of
HCl, HF and NH
3
.

Put the analyzer into zero mode by pressing the
zéro
key.

TIG Option and MIR NH
3
/ H
2
O version: select the SPAN PROBE mode.

Open the bottle of nitrogen and adjust the output pressure to 4x10
3
hPa.

Open the V2 valve.
−
Adjust the pressure reducer valve to obtain an output of 0.5x10
3
hPa.
−
Open the V1 valve in order to obtain a surplus of about 100l/h to prevent any humidity entering
through the air vent. Allow the injection plate to dry for at least 10 min.
TIG Option and MIR NH
3
/ H
2
O version: The excess flow is controlled in the TIG compartment. In
this case it is adjusted to 200 l/h. If necessary, modify the pressure of the pressure regulator valve.
