Consider the environment:
Take the fi lter to an authorised collection point that guarantees the
expert processing or recycling of oil. Never pour the oil in a sewer drain.
11.4.4 Cleaning the air fi lter
The petrol engine has been equipped as standard with an
air fi lter
(1)
of the engine make or has a separate Donald-
son cartridge fi lter
(2)
*. The cartridge fi lter is made of
layered paper and the dust must be regularly removed in
the interim time.
(* Depends on the machine model.)
• Open the left safety guard upwards (see §AP.A-P1)
• The air fi lter can be found on top of the engine under a
cover
(1)
or in the chassis recess on top of the black air
box for the engine
(2)
.
• Loosen the two hold-down clamps and remove the cover.
• Remove the fi lter element.
• Clean the cartridge by shaking off the coarse dust and
blowing off the fi ne dust using compressed air. Always
blow from the inside towards the outside.
• Also clean the fi lter cover and the fi lter housing. If re-
quired, also wipe the board where the lips of the fi lter cap
recess so that the fi lter housing can be sealed correctly.
• Refi t the fi lter element correctly and ensure it abuts
tight onto the fi lter housing.
• Refi t the cover and secure the cover using the hold-
down clamps.
Caution:
The sealing cover of the Donaldson fi lter has a top side. This is indicated
with an arrow and “UP”. (See the picture above.)
Warning:
The air fi lter also has a suction intake. Ensure that this suction intake is always
free from obstruction and is not obstructed by leaves, chippings, dust, etc.
Ignoring this issue will disrupt the optimal combustion in the engine
which may lead to irrevocable damage to the exhaust catalyst.
