Section 12: Maintenance Information
Electrical and mechanical inspection of all components must
be performed on a regularly scheduled basis, determined by
the environment and frequency of use. It is recommended that
inspection be performed a minimum of once a year.
1.
Inspect contact crimp locations for security.
2.
Clean exterior surfaces, making sure nameplates remain
legible.
3.
Check tightness of all shell parts before using.
4. Check contacts for signs of burning or arcing and
replace if necessary.
5. Check shell parts for damage to threads and skirts and
replace if necessary.
In addition to these required maintenance procedures,
we recommend an Electrical Preventative Maintenance
Program as described in the National Fire Protection
Association Bulletin NFPA No. 70B.

Section 14: Conditions of Use
1.
Connectors must be installed per manufacturer’s
instructions IF 1683.
2.
Flame path lengths are greater than those specified in
Table 8 of IEC 60079-1.
3.
The gap on the cylindrical joint is lower than those
specified in Table 8 of IEC 60079-1.
4.
It is the responsibility of the user to maintain
satisfactory earthing of the equipment.
5.
When installed, there should be adequate protection
from overloading.
6.
Plug/receptacle covers are to be fitted when the
connectors are not mated.
7.
Wire used must be rated for ambient temperatures of
at least 95°C.
8.
Voltage ratings of the wire used must be greater than
the maximum working voltage of the equipment.
9.
Grub screws on coupling nut and female cover must
always be fully tightened and secured.
10.
Entry to the enclosure must be made by suitably
certified Ex d llC Gb and Ex tb llC Db IP68 cable gland.
11.
For the type “Ex de” panel mount version, the
connector must be installed only on certified type
“Ex e” or “Ex d” enclosures with flat surfaces. The
end-user is responsible for maintaining appropriate
spacings in the installation of the “Ex e” box.
