C-3 THE LIGHTS WILL NOT SWITCH OFF
If the lights will not switch “Off” there may
be a problem with either the Smart Breaker
or the controller/control bus. To check for
the first, replace the Smart Breaker that
feeds the malfunctioning circuit with a Smart
Breaker that is known to work. If the new
Smart Breaker is able to be commanded On
and Off, the original Smart Breaker is bad. If
the new Smart Breaker also does not work
there may be a control problem see the
previous SUBSECTION of this document for
advice on checking control components.
An additional possibility is that power is not
present on the controller. Smart Breakers
are designed to hold their state until a signal
is sent to change them. This means that if a
Smart Breaker is commanded to the “On”
state and the controller losses power, the
Smart Breaker will stay in that state until the
controller is back on-line and commands it to
the “Off” position. If this occurs, the Main
Handle of the Smart Breaker may be used to
control the presence of power on the load
side terminal by switching it between the
“Off” and “On” position.
C-4 THE LIGHTS TURN ON THEN OFF
If this problem is repeatable it is most likely
that there is a programming problem at the
Metasys workstation. Please check to make
sure that all programs for the appropriate
Smart Breakers are correct.
A second cause might be the type of Smart
Breaker used and the configuration of the
JCI100. Refer to section 5-1-7 of this
document for information on the Smart
Breaker Selection Jumper. Afterward,
please check to make sure that the jumper is
in the correct position.
