4-2 NETWORK TERMINATIONS
The JCI100 does not have any means of
directly connecting to the N2 bus wiring.
This topic is discussed here to provide
continuity. The network wiring is
terminated to the appropriate carrier board.
This would be the RIB in a 5X chassis or to
the RTB in the Control Cabinet or Relay
Cabinet. Figure 5-2.1 is provided to briefly
illustrate the network connection to the RIB.
Figure 5-2.2 is provided to briefly illustrate
the network connection in a Relay Cabinet
or Control Cabinet.
The JCI100 also lacks any on-board Bias
and Termination facilities for the N2 Bus. If
either must be applied, they must be done
as adjacent components to the JCI100.
---NOTICE---
Both the RIB and RTB boards have
terminals labeled “SHLD” (Shield).
These are intended to be the Shield
connections for a standard RS-485
network. The JCI N2 Bus carries a 2.9
Volt reference signal on this
conductor; therefore the SHLD
terminal should never be connected
to a chassis ground point. Refer to
JCI N2 wiring specification for more
information.
