3-4 MANUAL OVERRIDE SWITCH ON
SMART BREAKERS
Each Smart Breaker used with a JCI100 is
complete with a manual override switch
(See Figure 3-4.1). This manual override
switch is colored green and located next to
the circuit breaker handle. The exception
to this is the GHBS. On the GHBS, the main
breaker handle can be used to control all
switching functions in the breaker. See
Figure 4-4.1 for an illustration of the GHBS
type Smart Breaker.
In the BABR, BABRS, & GHQRS, the manual
override switch is directly tied to the
remotely controllable switch. When the
remotely controllable switch is in the
“Closed” position a red indicator flag will
appear above the manual override switch.
The manual override switch gives the
operator the ability to manually switch the
remotely controllable switch to the “Closed”
position only. The remotely controllable
switch cannot be manually switched to the
“Open” position.
---Notice----
To manually “Open” the circuit in the
BABR, BABRS, and GHQRS, switch the
main breaker handle to the “Off”
position.
As noted in the GHBS, the main breaker
handle can be used to Open and Close the
remotely controlled contact. To identify
status of the remotely controlled contact,
there is a visual status window located
adjacent to the main breaker handle. As
with the other types of Smart Breakers, the
status window will display green when the
circuit is Open, and red when the circuit is
Closed. However, unlike the other Smart
Breakers, the main breaker handle can be
used to override the contacts to
both
the
Open and Closed position.
----NOTICE----
To identify the position of the
secondary contact look at the color of
the manual override handle. If there
is a red color bar then the secondary
contact is closed. Otherwise the
contact is open.
The primary use for the ability to override
the circuit in the Smart Breaker is to provide
users the ability to operate the device in the
instance of a failure in the controller.
----Notice------
In the event of a failure in the
controller or network, each Smart
Breaker can be manually operated
either through the main breaker
handle or the manual override switch.
---WARNING---
In the event that any maintenance
needs to be done to any branch
circuits, disconnect power to the
panel at the main device. Failure to do
so can cause personal injury or death.
