26.2.6 Inspecting the boom and the chassis
26.2.6.1 Checking the structures of the boom

Visually check the platform, its attachment, the articulated arms and the boom with
the telescope retracted.

Check the boom joints and slide pads/plays,
o
and as necessary, eliminate the slide pad play so that the boom extensions will
move in the middle of the boom, and do not chafe against the sides. The slide
pads
must , however, not press the boom.
NOTE
The slide pad screws must always be immobilised by applying threadlocker
after the adjustment.

Lubricate the slide surfaces (see point “Lubrication instructions”).

Check the condition, locking and adjustment of the Flyer-chains of the boom
extensions.
26.2.6.2 Checking the extending and retracting chains of the boom for
tightness. See the picture on the next page.
The slide pads of the boom extensions must be lubricated and adjusted
according to the instructions.
1. Drive the boom to a level position.
2. Extend the boom extensions completely, and after that retract them about
30 mm.
3. Check that the extending chain closer to the limit switch ( in the picture
green) does not hang notably. Adjust as necessary. Note Tightening
this chain also affects the length of the spring. (point 5)
4. Check that the extending chain farther away from the limit switch ( in the
picture, red) sags about 35 mm in the middle. Adjust as necessary.
5. Check the length of the spring of the retracting chain ( in the picture,
blue ) by extending the telescope to its maximum length. The length of the
spring should be about 32 mm.
6. Finally, check by measuring that the distance between the limit switch and
the counter plate is about 6 mm.
