Adaptec Host Adapter Installation
In preparing your array for first time use, you need to connect your Intel-based system to the RAID subsystem
through the Adaptec host adapter board. This chapter, along with your system and the associated Storage-
Works RAID Array 310 Subsystem manuals, provides instructions for preparing and installing the host adapter
and the subsystem enclosure, and installing the appropriate Adaptec drivers on the computer system.
CAUTION
The Adaptec Host Adapters listed below are the only ones that are
qualified for use with StorageWorks RAID 310. Only boards with
the listed revision levels should be used.
2.1
Install the Adaptec Host Adapter
The Adaptec SCSI host adapter is a SCSI-2 fast wide (16-bit) differential host adapter. Two
versions of the adapter, as specified in Table 2

1, are available and are discussed in this
chapter, depending upon whether your computer is an EISA- or PCI- based system:
