Operating the Web Control Panel

Cybernetics

UM-MV-86-B1-0801

If the user tries to save an invalid configuration, the miSAN-V-Series will display
an error message. Return to the “Network Configuration” menu so that the conflict
can be corrected or the changes cancelled.

Two or more interfaces may be “bonded” together to transfer data as a single
Ethernet interface “bond

X

”. This combines the available bandwidth for the multiple

interfaces into the “bond

X

” Ethernet interface. See

Appendix C, “Glossary”

for a

further explanation of bonding, including requirements.

To do this, set “eth0” and “eth1” to

Bonded

, and then set the network parameters

for the “bond

X

” interface.

ethX IP bonding

This menu option sets the “bond

X

” interface that the Ethernet interface is part of.

Default value is

bond0

.

IP address

All network interfaces must be assigned static IP addresses. The miSAN-V-Series
does not support DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), since it is
intended that the network interface(s) will be up indefinitely, and lease renegotia-
tion might interrupt a backup operation in progress.

The default “IP address” for the first Ethernet interface is

192.168.1.1

. Default “IP

addresses” for subsequent interfaces are

192.168.2.1

,

192.168.3.1

, etc. The

static IP address is set with this option.

The default “subnet mask” is

255.255.255.0

. Change the subnet mask in the

same manner as for the “IP address”.

MTU

This sets the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) size. Default value is

1500

Choices are

. The

9000

setting is for use only with Gigabit Ethernet

networks that are “jumbo” packet capable (See

Appendix C, “Glossary”

).

This menu item only appears if the Ethernet interface is set to “Bonded”.
