6.2 Instrument calibration (Calibration)
Trough this operation it is possible to verify the calibration of the sensor, or if
necessary, to provide a re-calibration trough the special S glass calibration
plate supplied.
The digital electronics and assembling of FiberScanONE™ are extremely stable.
Each instrument before shipping undergoes an accurate individual calibration
procedure, which lasts over 5 hours.
However, the transportation and thermal shocks cause minimal variations of
the sensor internal (controlled) atmosphere; these variations are detected by
the high sensitivity of the planar sensor.
Please re-calibrate only then readings go over 5% the test plate references.
CAUTION!
For better accuracy, it is suggestible to perform the calibration
procedure after bringing the sensor to the working temperature
(the temperature of the pulp stock to measure), especially if the
temperature is close to the working limits of the instrument. The
reason is that the calibration is also compensated by temperature.
CAUTION!
Place the sensor face up, in an area free of any disturbances,
making sure that it is far (at least 50cm) from metallic objects
and/or telecommunication equipments (i.e. mobile phones) as per
Fig.20
.
