Functions and Features: An Overview
The video alarm system ACom carries out remote surveillance and remote control of vid-
eo surveillance devices via ISDN or other public telecommunication networks. The sys-
tem can easily be connected to a multiple ISDN-connection and can send data either to
an internal substation or to an external connection. In order to receive the data you will
need a computer programmed with the CMConnect (part of the delivery) or another
H.320-compatible outstation such as a video telephone. You can enter simple control
and configuration demands for the models ACom6A and ACom6HA already with the dig-
ital dial of an ordinary telephone.
Apart from the basic system ACom6, you have the choice between several other models.
In addition to the transmission of images, the model ACom6A enables you to transmit
audio data as well (from an intercom or another talk-back-circuit).The device transmits
the audio data bidirectionally and parallel to the transmission of pictures.
The model ACom6H is equipped with an integrated hard disc and a memory capacity of
2.1 GB. The hard disc records video data, depending on its configuration, either in a pro-
grammed sequence or “event-driven“, i.e. in the case of an alarm.
The model ACom6HA is equipped with both audio function and hard disc (2.1 GB).
Ideally, ACom is transmitting via the digital communication network ISDN (Integrated
Service Digital Network). All ACom-devices have an integrated ISDN-adapter. Rapid
transmission of large data volumes is best conducted simultaneously on both B-channels
of a basic ISDN-connection S

. The system, however, is fully functional on a single B-
channel, too. The analog phone networks or GSM-networks (Global Systems for Mobile
Telecommunications) can also be used for the sake of data transmission. For these pur-
poses, however, you need an external modem.
The device is capable of compressing the data in compliance with the norm H.320 in or-
der to accelerate the data transmission. This enables it to communicate with other
H.320-compatible systems (such as video conferencing systems or video telephones).
Apart from video data, ACom is capable of transmitting control commands for movable
cameras and other appliances. The range of controllable appliances is steadily being ex-
tended. You may contact your local CBC-branch for more detailed and up-to-date infor-
mation. Two relays can activate further switch functions such as door openers or lamps.
In order to turn work with the ACom system into a convenient experience, the software
CMConnect has been designed to make your life easier. You can watch and evaluate vid-
eo pictures on a computer and easily control the peripherals/appliances connected to the
ACom with mouse and keyboard. The programme has been developed for Windows 95/
98/NT and is delivered with a manual of its own.
For the purposes of local installation and configuration of your ACom, you should make
use of the software CMCtrl which is delivered together with this product.
