PREPARATION FOR REMOTE CONNECTION OF OMT USING
WIRELESS MODEM
An integratged wireless modem with the equipment provides the option of remote connection of the
equipment by OMT. The wireless modem implements the link for data and SMS.
The power cable and data wire has already been connected to the wireless modem, customer only need
to insert the SIM card into the wireless modem.

The requirement for SIM card is data enabled and without PIN code. To insert or replace the SIM card,
locate and press down the recessed button to eject the SIM carrier. Insert the SIM and push-back the
carrier until it is latched in place.
The LED indicator of the wireless modem displays the state of the modem:
z
LED OFF: equipment power off
z
LED ON: equipment power on, no SIM card or no connection to antenna
z
LED flash slowly: equipment power on, in SMS mode
z
LED flash quickly: equipment power on, in data transfer link mode
Note: For data link mode, it replies depending on whether operator provides this function.
4.6 PHYSICAL CONNECTION OF OMT TO EQUIPMENT
Before OMT software gets started, physical connection between OMT software and the equipment must
be achieved.
Connect the local PC to the equipment by RS-232 commission cable (labeled ‘R-9122C’ or ‘R-9122AC’)
supplied together with the equipment, one end connects to the RS-232 port (X18) on the distribution board
within the equipment, the other to the serial port of PC.
Power-up the equipment, start the OMT software. It will go through the initialization process (duration
about 60~120s). At this stage, OMT software can get started and is able to communicate to the equipment
by either a direct serial link or remotely by a wireless modem.
Note, the default settings are: baud rate (9600), check bit (None), data bits (8 bits), and stop bit (1 digit).
