3.4.5 EQUIPMENT CONNECTIONS
The equipment has been designed for all cable entries from the bottom of the enclosure. The only
exception is the RS232 connection where it a temporary connection for equipment commissioning.

Ground connection
To ensure safe operation of the product, a ground (earth) connection is required. For single phase AC
power source, the product must be grounded by connecting the “earth wire” of the power cord to the
ground terminal of the AC supply. For operating this product with DC power system (such as rectifiers), the
product should not be connected to power systems that switch open the return lead because the return
lead could function as the ground (earth) connection for the equipment.
Protective Ground Connection
The enclosure must be grounded securely by connecting a copper wire (CSA 16mm
2
) to the grounding
terminal on the equipment/rack, and the other end to a protective ground (i.e. building earth point). An
internationally acceptable color code of the ground connection wire is green/yellow.
Such a ground connection implements the “Protective Ground Connection”, and must be connected to the
equipment at the designated ground point. In general, do not connect the supply before establishing an
adequate ground (earth) connection.
Service voltage connection
The repeater accepts single phase 220VAC power. The recommended AC connection is rated at AC220V,
10A and has three connections to include earth. The power cord was pre-wired to the PSU, and is
identified by a label “AC 220V” or “DC +24V” or “DC -48V” adjacent to the cable gland.
For communication sites with AC-DC power system, this product could be supplied to work with DC
voltage of -48V or +24V.
DC power connection from telecom rectifier is via a wire with CSA of 2.5mm2. DC voltage supply is
hardwired to the rectifier equipment. For planning purposes, allow DC current up to 15A to be drawn when
powered with +24V and -48V. The wiring to telecom rectifiers is outside the scope of this document,
please consult and observe the installation guidelines for telecom rectifiers.
Powering option: +24V connectivity
The DC power cable for +24V is color coded, typically as RED for “+24V or Battery” and BLUE for “0V or
Return“ connection.
On the PSU is a Combicon connector (plug), please consult the PSU pinout and identify the +24V and 0V
pin and wire the DC power cable to the +24V and 0V pin. One pair of extra connectors exist for +24V DC
input, and these could be left unconnected.
