While workers hold the discharge con-
veyor in position, carefully lift the bypass
conveyor. Remove the bypass conveyor’s
threaded rod from its tube (Figure 7-46).
There is one on each side.
Lower the bypass conveyor.
Carefully place one of the support posts
under each end of the discharge conveyor
to keep it in the raised position.
Make sure each post is securely positioned
and the discharge conveyor is stable.
Open the right endframe door and locate
the bypass conveyors drive chain (Figure
7-47).
Remove the drive chain.
Move underneath the discharge conveyor
and pull the rear bypass ribbons around
their tracks until all the lacing clips are
accessible and aligned at the drive roll.
Remove the connecting pins from all the
ribbons and move them away from the
drive roll. It is not necessary to remove
them from the machine.
Remove the old tape from the drive roll.
Mark the center position of each tape with
a permanent marker so new tapes can be
properly positioned.
Scrape off any old cement which remains
on the roll using a scraper, coarse sand-
paper or a wire brush. Wipe away any
remaining residue with a clean cloth.

To apply the tape:
Cut a 9-7/16” (238 mm) for each
placement.
Remove the backing from the tape
Line the tape up with the center
mark.
Wrap the tape around the roll and butt
the ends together
.
Repeat Steps 12 to 14 for each tracking
tape location.
Bring the ribbons back into position and
replace the connecting pins. Make sure
the 1/2 right twist is maintained on the
underside of the rear bypass conveyor
(Figure 7-40).
Stagger the positions of the lacing clips to
give the flatwork a smooth flow.
Replace the drive chain removed in Step
9.
Close the right endframe door.
Reposition the discharge and rear bypass
conveyors by reversing 4 to 6.

in this section.
