8.4.1
Diesel engine
Instructions on troubleshooting on the diesel engine:
•
Always observe the included engine operating manual during troubleshooting.
•
All work on the diesel engine many only be carried out by authorised specialists
(see Page 25: Safety > Qualifications of personnel). Contact the manufacturer if
necessary.

Problem
Possible Cause
Remedy
Engine does not start
Fuel tank is empty
Add diesel (see Page 118: Maintenance, repair and
shut-down > Refilling diesel).
Control element not in
engine start position (start
prevention function)
Move the control elements/lever to the engine start
position.
Stop-cock on fuel filter is
not closed
Close the stop-cock.
Air in fuel system
Vent the fuel system.
Battery is flat
Charge the battery.
Engine starts with difficulty
Oil is too thick in cold
weather
Fill engine oil appropriate for the time of the year
(Oil change).
Diesel fuel is too viscous
and/or very dirty
Clean the fuel system (filter, etc.) (change diesel
fuel).
Engine has loss of power
Insufficient diesel feed
Check the fuel supply pipes for leaks.
Check the fuel filter for dirt.
Replace the fuel filter.
Vent the fuel system.
Incorrect fuel filter
Use the correct (original) fuel filter.
Air filter is dirty
Clear or replace the air filter.
