Bed Control

Depending on the Spirit™ bed you purchased, you will have two or three locations for controlling bed
functions.

Patient Handheld Control (Pendant)

The Spirit™ has been designed with provisions to connect a patient, handheld,
6 function control (pendant).
The pendant offers patient control of basic bed operations:

•

Head UP/DOWN,

•

Knee/Foot UP/DOWN

•

Bed UP/DOWN

Storage

For Spirit™ beds, the pendant can be affixed to the
bed using a holster that clips between the side rail
bars on the outside of the bed. The pendant slips
into the holster for easy location and convenient
patient access.
OR
For all beds, the pendant can be secured to the bed
linens with the included linen clip. Choose a clip
location so that the pendant is within easy reach.

Connection

The pendant can be connected on either side of the
bed (the connection port is just beneath the seat
section of the mattress deck on both sides of the
bed).
To move the pendant to the opposite side of the
bed, first, unscrew the threaded retaining cap then
carefully disconnect the jack.
Reconnect the pendant control cable to the existing
port on the other side of the bed. Ensure that the
indexing arrows are aligned to enable connection.
Carefully align and screw on threaded retaining cap.

WARNING

Electric SHOCK Hazard when working on the electrical components.
Before working on any electrical part, such as the 9-pin pendant coupling, ensure the mains AC
power to the bed is disconnected and the capacitor inside the control box is fully discharged.
Full capacitor discharge can be achieved by sequentially depressing the UP and DOWN buttons
on the pendant at least 20 times, after mains AC power to the control box has been

disconnected.
