7.8.5 Fun Belt Tension

small, the belt is slipped and not only
the cooling capacity of the engine is
lowered but also the service life of it is
shortened.

Inspect the tension after the engine is
stopped.
Inspection / Adjustment
7.8.5 Track Tension
1. Open the engine cover.
2. Press the center of the cooling fan belt by finger to
check for the tension of the belt.
Deflection: About 7 mm at force of about 5 kg
3. If the deflection does not come within a reference
value specified above, loosen the mounting bolt, and
move the alternator to adjust the tension of the belt.
Clawler tension bolt
Lock nut
Loose track tension can cause the tracks to come
off the machine, causing damage to the machine
and possibly serious injury or death to the opera-
tor or bystanders. During the first 100 hours of
use, the tracks stretch and the track tension loos-
ens. Check track tension during the pre operation
inspection and as part of monthly inspection, as
specified in the Regular Inspection Chart.
1. Stop the machine on level ground.
2. Jack up the front and rear of the chassis to raise the
crawler on one side and make it horizontal to the
ground surface.
3. Loosen the lock nut of the crawler tension bolt.
4. Rotate the crawler tension bolt to adjust the clearance
between the crawler and the frame to 75 to 80 mm.
