Operation
6.2.3 Starting in Winter or in Cold Areas
If the engine is hard to start in winter or in cold areas (at an atmospheric temperature of
0°C or below), start the engine following the procedure below. The load on the battery
will be reduced.
1. Push the clutch lever to the [
(OFF)] position.

2. Depress the parking brake pedal.
3. Push the throttle lever to the [
(HIGH SPEED)]
position.
4. Insert the engine key in the ignition switch,
and turn it to the [
(PREHEAT)] position to warm-
up the engine.
5. Turn the key in the ignition switch to the[
(START)]
position to start the engine. (When the engine starts,
release the key immediately. The key will automati-
cally return to the [
(ON) position.]
6. Check that the warning lamps (oil lamp, charge lamp,
and cooling water temperature lamp) are off.

7. Push the clutch lever to the [
(ON)] position.
8. Continue the warming-up operation for about 5 min-
utes under no load.
