Status Monitor Does Not Start
Check Point
Solution
The Status Monitor setting is incorrect.
With some Status Monitor settings, printer errors will
not be displayed and the Status Monitor will not
start. Open the printer driver Utility sheet then click
Start Status Monitor.
Set the details after the Status Monitor starts.
How to Start and Display the Status Monitor
The computer and the printer cannot
make bi-directional communication.
If the printer and the computer are not set for bi-
directional communication, the Status Monitor will
not open even when a print job starts.
For Windows XP, Windows 2000
Open the printer driver Properties window, click the
Ports tab, and make sure that the Enable
bidirectional support checkbox is selected.
For Windows Me
Open the Printer driver Properties window, click the
Details tab, then click the Spool Settings button to
open the Spool Settings dialog box. Make sure that
the Enable bi-directional support for this printer is
selected.
If the measures above do not solve the problem,
uninstall the printer driver, then install the printer
driver again.
