Tools / Port Scan
VCT will scan all Com Ports seen on the PC in an attempt to locate the Vertex device. If found,
"CallerID.com Unit Detected" will indicate the COM port to which the Vertex is connected. Other
scan results are explained on the screen.
Tools / Port Scan - Loopback Test Button
This tests the transmit and receive functionality of the PC's serial port. Follow on-screen
instructions to check whether your serial port is working properly.
Tools / Device Manager
This is a quick link to your PC's Device Manager allowing you to see the status of your COM Ports.
If using a USB-to-Serial adaptor cable and you see an exclamation sign next to the listing, your
USB-to-Serial drivers need to be installed properly.
Tools / Upload
You can upload your resulting call records to CallerID.com for analysis. If so, please follow up with
an Email stating your issue and include the Serial Number of the Vertex.
Monitor / Raw Data
Used for diagnostic purposes, the viewed data can be saved to a file or directly uploaded to
CallerID.com for analysis. If uploaded, please follow up with an Email stating your issue and include
the Serial Number of the Vertex.
Help / Check For Updates
This checks for both VCT and Vertex firmware updates. If your Vertex is working properly, do not
perform a firmware update. When troubleshooting, updating to the newest Vertex Configuration Tool
is recommended.
Updating firmware is recommended only after most common
troubleshooting
efforts have been
performed. Before updating firmware, make sure you save the existing Vertex parameters on your
PC using Menu:
