CAE SimuFlite
Pumps
Two engine-driven hydraulic pumps
pressurize the system. Either pump
can supply enough pressure to oper-
ate all hydraulic components.
The pumps are constant displace-
ment pumps located on each
engine's accessory gearbox. The
pumps are not dependent on hydrau-
lic fluid flow for lubrication.
Filters
The hydraulic system has three
replaceable filters. One filter is
mounted on the pressure side of each
engine-driven pump. One large filter
is in the hydraulic return line of the
reservoir.
The bypass for each filter opens with
a pressure differential of 100 PSI.
There is no indication in the cockpit
of hydraulic filter bypass.
Flow Switch Check
Valves
The output flow of each pump
passes through a flow switch/check
valve before entering a common
pressure line to the hydraulic subsys-
tems. The flow switch/valves pre-
vent fluid flow from one engine-
driven pump to the other during
engine shutdown and monitor the
fluid flow in their respective lines. If
a pump's output flow drops below
0.45 ±0.10 GPM, the respective LO
HYD FLOW L/R annunciator illumi-
nates. The flow switch turns off the
annunciator as the pump's output
increases above 1.33 GPM.
Center Bypass

Valve
Selecting any hydraulic subsystem
component closes a bypass valve in
the return line causing system pressure
to build. Electrical power closing the
bypass valve comes from the subsys-
tem being activated. A relief valve,
which limits pressure to 1,500 PSI,
operates in parallel with the bypass
valve. It begins to open at 1,350 PSI
and is fully open at 1,500 PSI.
The bypass valve remains closed
until the landing gear or speedbrakes
completes the cycle. The bypass
valve then opens and depressurizes
the hydraulic system.
The system stays pressurized while
the thrust reversers are deployed.
The thrust reversers are limited to 15
minutes of deployment out of each
one hour period on the ground with
the engines operating at idle static
thrust.
Hydraulic Pressure
Indicating System
As the pressure increases above 185
PSI, a pressure switch illuminates
the HYD PRESS annunciator.
As pressure decreases below 155 ±5
PSI, the pressure switch extin-
guishes the annunciator.
Thrust Reverser Limitation
Maximum
allowable thrust reverser
deployed time is 15 minutes in any
one hour period on the ground at
idle static thrust.
