FMS Accuracy and Crosstrack
Messages
The FMS accuracy and crosstrack
messages (19) indicate when the
FMS or GPS is in the approach mode
with the display of a green APP
annunciator or when the FMS has
sent a crosstrack warning with the
display of a cyan XTK annunciator.
Course Select/Desired Track
Pointer
The course select/desired track
pointer (20) rotates around the center
of the arc heading display. With a
short range NAV selected, the course
selection knob on the remote instru-
ment controller positions the course
pointer. With a long range NAV
selected, the course pointer becomes
a desired track pointer, which is
positioned by the long range naviga-
tion system. When FMS is selected,
the desired track data is generated by
the FMS. Selecting FMS makes the
course selection knob on the remote
instrument controller inactive.
FMS Status Annunciators
The FMS annunciators (21) appear
in the upper left corner of the display
area, next to the course select/
desired track display. The four
amber FMS status annunciators are
DGR, DR, WPT, and INTG. The
DGR and DR annunciations indicate
a degraded mode of operation or a
dead reckoning mode, respectively.
WPT annunciates a lateral waypoint
and appears 60 seconds before cross-
ing an FMS waypoint. The WPT
annunciation acts as an FMS way-
point alert when it is displayed.
The INTG (GPS integrity) annuncia-
tion indicates a failing GPS and is
removed when the selected NAV
source is something other than FMS.
Course Select/Desired Track
Pointer Display
The course pointer display (22) is in
the upper left corner of the EHSI dis-
play. The annunciations are CRS for
short range NAV and DTRK (desired
track) when a long range NAV source
is selected. Directly below the annunci-
ation is a digital display of the current
course pointer value. The pointer and
value are green for short range NAV
and magenta for a long range NAV
source. The pointer and associated
annunciations are yellow when cross-
side short range NAV is selected, and
the course pointer is yellow if both
sides display the same source.
Compass Sync Annunciator
The compass (or heading) sync
annunciation (23) indicates the state
of the compass system in the slaved
(AUTO) mode. The symbols in this
display are a bar, plus sign and a
zero. The bar represents commands
to the compass to slew the indicated
direction. The plus sign indicates an
increase in heading and zero indi-
cates a reduction in heading. Slow
oscillation indicates normal opera-
tion. An invalid magnetic heading or
an invalid flux valve heading
removes the compass sync annuncia-
tion from the display.
The colors for the compass sync
annunciator are green, magenta, or
yellow depending upon the NAV
source or the type of EHSI display or
annunciator.
