Ink Delivery System Installation

2.4

Communication Cable Setup

There are three types of serial connection points depending on the hardware included with

the motherboard. The three connection types are as follows:

•

Motherboard RS232 COM1 or COM2 port.

•

Motherboard USB port.

•

Serial communication board (

p/n BK-COMM

) COM port.

The connection should be made to the first available connection according to the order of

the list above. Once the physical connection is made, Compose IQ inkjet control software

will have to “know” where the connection has been made by identifying the port used. In

addition, the Windows device manager will have to be configured to define the COM port.

2.4.1 RS232 COM Serial Cable Connection

2.4.1.1 Serial

Ribbon

Cable Attachment

Ensure the controller’s power is OFF.

Attach the serial ribbon cable into an available motherboard COM port
(

rightmost one

) located at the top of the motherboard cage assembly.
