3-2-3-3. Update using the boot system program
If the main program becomes incapable of operation due to the failure of the update, the boot system program
incorporated into the printer is activated. The boot system program reads the firmware update data within the USB
memory and activates the printer on a preliminary basis. Conduct firmware update according to the steps indicated
below:
(1) Prepare the update data of the firmware one version older than the one used in the failed update. Change the
filename of the version to 'GTX4FIRM.bwf' and copy file onto the root folder of the USB memory.
(2) Also copy the firmware update data to be used in the update onto the root folder of the USB memory.
(3) Insert the USB memory to the printer with the power OFF.
(4) Manually press print button, and power ON the printer with the button depressed. Keep on pressing the Print button
until the lamp on the button lights up, then release button. If the timing for releasing the Print button is too slow, error
code 6032 is indicated. In this case, repeat process after powering OFF the printer.
(5) When the printer is activated, select "Version" -> "Firm Version" from the menu and confirm whether the firmware
copied in step (1) is operational.
(6) Select "Firmware Update" from the Advanced menu.
(7) Then select data originally intended for use in the update and press OK button to update. The firmware will not be
updated if the update data is the same version as the firmware currently installed.
(8) Update is completed with the indication of the following completion message on the display. Power OFF the printer.
(9) Detach USB memory from the printer and turn ON. Check the firmware version upon power ON.
