Introduction

This section describes the theory of operation of the scanner. The description is divided into
two separate sub-sections, each:

General Description:
Supported by a block diagram, this section aims to give you an understanding of the
interaction between modules, boards, and major function blocks in the system.

Board Descriptions:
This section provides an overall description of each board sub-assembly, with an explanation
of the main purpose of the function blocks.

8.1

General Description

The system consists of four main blocks:

1. Engine Module

2. Display

3. Glass UI Control Panel

4. Power Supply / Batteries

The Engine Module acquires and processes ultrasound information, hosting all software
processes, and provides electrical connectivity to ultrasound transducers, keyboard, and
display plus to external devices (foot switch, printer, network, etc.). The Glass UI control panel
converts the mechanical user interactions on the touch screen to software functions and send
them to the Engine. Display Module displays the user interface, including status information,
and provides sound via two loudspeakers.
