4.6

Installation of the shield

To avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation, install the shield as final system

component.

The shield is placed on a mounting base at the measuring point and fixed. The
shield on the container is secured against tilting by means of a tipping protection.

WARNING

Risk of injury due to tilting shield
There is a risk of injury to persons when working on non-fixed shields.



Always secure upright shields against falling by fasten lifting means at the
ring nuts.

IMPORTANT

The specification of the mounting base and the tilt safety device are

determined during the project planning and defined by drawings, sketches or
written instructions.
These instructions must be observed strictly during assembly.

Tip

If the shield contains a radioactive source, the measurement of the

background count rate of the detector should take place before the shield is
installed.
