Aligning multiple projectors
Select / Learn Configuration
Select first a Configuration block of any number.
Before executing this command, please verify first that
all projectors in the RS232 chain operate at a baud rate
of 9600 and have unique addresses. Because the
ACTAS Control Unit and Interface are acting as
addressable items as well, the addresses 253 and 254
are reserved. If a host computer is connected and
generates the test pictures asked by the ACTAS Control
Unit, the address 252 is also reserved. Please refer to
your manuals for the projector about how to set the
communication rates and addresses of the projectors.
The projector must be either in the "Operate" mode or the
"Pause" mode (use the 'Remote control' command).
Execute 'Learn config' command to let the ACTAS start
searching the addresses of the connected projectors.
The result will be stored in the ACTAS Control Unit. Only
the projectors that are either operational or in pause will
be found, the other ones in stand-by are intentionally
skipped.
Get reference
Make sure that the projector is on the correct source
selection. If an adjustment mode (random or guided) is
in use, either with or without menus displayed, the mode
will be exited automatically by the ACTAS.
The test picture format (frequencies, levels, etc.) can be
viewed and edited with the 'Edit setup'. The Window
level high and Window level low values are set by default
to 20% and 60% respectively. It is not advised to change
these values. Make sure this format is correct before
starting the 'Get reference' step.
For best results, the Brightness value should be set to
the level on which no scan lines are visible around the
white box of the test pattern. This is done automatically
if the reference projector is prepared by using the "C
Temp". Normally, values from 45% to 50% would do.
The contrast value must be set to obtain the desired
picture. Please bear in mind that high contrast levels will
have bad influence on color matching.
Important :
G2 levels should be set correctly in all projectors of the
wall before carrying out the step 'Get reference' or 'Start
adjust'.
Even if the projector has ABL (Automatic black level).
Contrast modulation also need to be adjusted in ad-
vance.
When the reference projector is operating as desired,
place the ACTAS Sensor unit onto the next projector to
be adjusted as described in Chapter 3.
Check that no strong ambient light can penetrate and
use the light cover if necessary.
Bear in mind that the reference kind should be either
'Custom' or 'G2'.
When ready to measure the references, use the 'Get ref'
command.
Note :
The projector that is used as the reference, will be
remembered by the ACTAS Control Unit as an adjusted
projector in the configuration.
Select / Edit Setup
This step is optional. It can be used to verify the values
obtained by 'Get reference'. Here, it is even possible to
edit these values, but is not recommended. Most of the
items are set correctly by default.
