Terminal Commissioning And Antenna Alignment

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

14. ANTENNA ALIGNMENT METHOD

 

     
 

 

 

1.  Connect the meter to the Transceiver or ensure that the initial set up has been completed for the AMA 

pointing tool (Follow the AMA guide) 

2.   Switch the meter on, it will search for the satellite. The AMA pointing tool will show searching.

 

 

3.

 

Swing antenna slowly back and forward through its azimuth, adjusting elevation angle slightly each time 

until the correct satellite is found. The meter will show locked and a fast bleeping sound will be heard 

and the following will be shown on the meter screen when the correct satellite has been identified.  (You 

can also use the spectrum mode at this point if desired) 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 
 

4.  Fully tighten the three canister bolts, then using fine AZ and El adjustments on the antenna adjust until the 

maximum signal/MER level is achieved, press the down arrow on the meter  to enter close up mode and 

peak the antenna to gain the maximum signal and MER levels.

 

5.  Fully tighten all elevation and fine adjust bolts, while watching the meter reading for any variation and 

correcting as necessary using the fine adjustments.

 

6.  Once antenna is peaked, move slightly up, down, left and right. If signal level drops with every movement 

then antenna is pointed correctly.

 

7.  Once the antenna is fully aligned / peaked you are ready to continue with the Auto commission of your terminal 

using the AFA or AMA Android App, please follow the user guide for your selected method. 

 
 

 

IMPORTANT:  If you are using a Horizon Nano Meter to align your Jupiter 

antenna DO NOT connect it in line with the Terminal, only use the supplied 
battery pack to power the Transceiver and complete alignment. Failure to 
follow this advice will result in damage to the Nano meter due to the higher 
supply voltages of the Hughes Jupiter 9600 and 9800 Terminals.
