14. ANTENNA ALIGNMENT METHOD

 

     
 

 

14.2 POINTING THE ANTENNA 

Prerequisites

 

 

Before pointing the antenna, you must:

 

 

 

1.

 

Assemble and install the antenna and radio assembly. Follow the instructions in the installation guide for 

the specific antenna model you are installing. 

2.

 

Decide which commissioning system you are going to use AFA or AMA. 

3.

 

For the AFA and AMA the antenna can be pointed using a meter prior to installing the associated cable 

and terminal commissioning. 

4.

 

If the AMA is to be used to also point the antenna then the cable and terminal should be in place before 

attempting to align the antenna. Follow the AMA user guide to complete the required steps.

The above two diagrams show the connections required for AFA commissioning and AMA pointing and 

commissioning. 

 
 

CAUTION

 

 

The IDU must be powered off when you connect or disconnect the IFL cables. If power is on, you could short the 

connectors and cause damage to the IDU and radio assembly. NOTE:

 The terminal must not be power cycled 

using the din connector on the rear of the terminal, power should always be removed from the supply before 

inserting or removing the Din plug or damage to the terminal may result.
