NOTE: You can’t assign an input to more than one fader!
For example, say the input named CD1 is assigned to fader 1, and you need
to have CD1 come up on fader 6 instead. You’ve pressed the SELECT
BUTTON on fader 6 and turned the SELECT KNOB to CD1. The system
will work in one of two ways, depending on the status of fader 1’s ON and
BUS ASSIGN buttons.
If fader 1 is ON and assigned to at least one of the four main buses, the
CHANNEL DISPLAY will change to show “used 1” to indicate that CD1
has already been assigned to fader 1 and is currently in use on that fader.
Pressing ENTER at this time will have no effect: CD1 can not be assigned
to fader 6 under these conditions.
On the other hand, if fader 1 is not ON, or if it is ON but not assigned to
any of the four main buses, then the CHANNEL DISPLAY will remain
showing “FADER 6”, and pressing ENTER will select CD1 as the source
for fader 6. At the same time, the source for fader 1 will be changed from
CD1 to OFF, and if any of the switches ON, PGM, AUD, MONO1,
MONO2, or CUE are lit on fader 1, they will turn off.
Note that OFF is, in effect, a special source that can be assigned to any
fader. If OFF is selected for a fader, the fader’s ON BUTTON will turn off
if it was on, and any BUS ASSIGN BUTTONS are also turned off. While
the fader has OFF selected as its input, the channel can’t be turned on,
assigned to an output bus, or assigned to CUE.
Bus Assign Buttons
Pressing any of the four BUS ASSIGN BUTTONS causes the fader’s input
to be included in the output mix for that bus, at a level dependent on the
FADER setting, as long as the fader is ON (see ON AND OFF BUTTONS)
and does not have OFF as its selected input. The button will be lit when the
fader is assigned to its respective bus. To remove a fader from a bus, press the
button again; the light will go off to indicate that the fader is no longer assigned
to that bus.
Cue Button
Press the CUE BUTTON. The fader’s input signal will be included in the
console’s CUE output at a level that is independent of the FADER setting, and
the button will light. The fader does not need to be turned ON. If a fader is OFF
and in cue, the assignment to cue will be automatically canceled when the ON
BUTTON is pressed. To remove a fader from cue, press the CUE BUTTON
again; the light will go off to indicate the fader is no longer assigned to cue.
Note, if the fader’s selected input is OFF, the CUE BUTTON will not operate.
To prevent possible feedback situations some inputs will mute the Control
Room speakers. A fader which has selected such an input cannot be assigned
to cue, and the CUE BUTTON will not light.
Whenever a fader is put into CUE, the SWITCHED METER PAIR will
automatically switch to meter the CUE and TALKBACK audio, and its
display will show “Q/TB”.
