Whenever the CR mute is activated, PGM may automati-
cally be selected as the Control Room source. The installer,
however, may have disabled this feature.
CR DISPLAY - the four character display shows the source
that is selected for monitoring in the Control Room.
CR LEVEL CONTROL - determines the overall loudness
of the signal being monitored as it appears in the Control Room
speakers.
CUE LEVEL CONTROL - determines the overall loudness
of the cue signal as it appears in the console’s cue speaker
(located behind the grill in the meterbridge).
Like the Control Room speakers, the cue speaker also has
the potential for feedback. To avoid this situation, the cue
speaker is muted whenever the Control Room speakers are
muted.
HEADPHONE LEVEL CONTROL - determines the over-
all loudness of the headphone output signal.
The headphone output signal appears at the HEADPHONE
JACK on the side of the console. The jack is provided as a place
to plug in user-supplied stereo headphones having an imped-
ance of 60
Ω
(ohms) or higher.
STUDIO MONITOR
Overview
In addition to the Control Room, there may be a Studio in
which one or more performers will be assembled, usually with
microphones so that their voices can become part of the mix.
Speakers may be provided in the Studio to allow the talent to
listen to the various console bus outputs at times that they are
not actually on air. These speakers are fed from the console’s
stereo Studio output. The STUDIO MONITOR consists of an
ST SELECT BUTTON, an ST DISPLAY, an ST LEVEL
CONTROL, and a TB (talkback) TO ST BUTTON.
As in the Control Room, the potential for feedback also
exists in the Studio. The talent microphones will usually
provide a part of the signal that is going out over the air. If that
signal is the one being monitored with the Studio speakers,
feedback will occur. To prevent this, the Studio mic faders are
usually set to MUTE the Studio output to prevent the occur-
rence of feedback.
The installer may have used the Studio pre-fade output to
provide a source for studio headphones which will not be
affected by the studio mute.
