DANGER
DO NOT DISMANTLE THE COVER OF
THE CHARGER FOR FEAR OF
ELECTRIC DISCHARGE.
DEAL ONLY WITH AN ACCREDITED
PERSON
IN
THE
CASE
OF
BREAKDOWN
DANGER
IT IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED TO USE
THE MACHINE DURING CHARGING OF
THE BATTERY FOR FEAR OF RAPID
AND IRREVERSIBLE DETERIORATION
OF BOTH THE LATTER AND THE
CHARGER.
3.2.1 OPERATING PRINCIPLE
The battery charger has an effect on the performance and lifecycle of the battery; this is why it is
considered as an important part of all the electrical racks.
1 - Connect the plug of the charger to a mains socket.
2 – The RED Led shows that the battery is in the initial charging phase.
3 – The YELLOW Led shows that the battery charger has reached 80% of the
charge.
4 - The GREEN Led shows that the battery charger has reached 100% of the
charge
5 - At the end of the charge it is mandatory to disconnect the feed supply socket
of the charger.
LOAD CURVES
The beginning of charging is triggered by the connection of the charger on the mains. The values
of phase parameters are independent of the fluctuations of the mains.
Start of the charge is not guaranteed if the battery voltage is below 9V (for a battery of 24V
nominal voltage).
- NB -
The first charge following the connection of the charger to the battery shows an
overload of at least 1 hour. This characteristic makes it possible to “de-sulfate” the new
batteries which may have been stored for several months.
EQUALIZING AND DE-SULFATING CHARGE
This charging starts automatically 15 minutes after the end of each complete charging. This is
made with a current equal to fifty per cent of the overcurrent. This charging stops when the battery
voltage stabilizes (variation of less than 60mV/hour). This type of charging eliminates the
phenomenon of sulfation, and makes it possible to equalize the 12 cells of 2V which make up the
24V battery.
TRICKLE CHARGES
In the case where the charger remains connected to the mains, a charging cycle restarts every 48
hours after the end of the previous charge, so as to compensate for the spontaneous discharge.
