1.6. TIGHTENING TORQUE
Applying appropriate tightening torques is very important. An unsuitable torque can seriously
adversely affect the resistance of parts between themselves.

Certain special applications require variations in the standard tightening torques.
Please refer to revision procedures of the component for potential recommendations.
If one of the elements (either the screw, or the nut) is protected, the values must be multiplied by a
factor of 0.90. Multiply by 0.80 if the nut and the screw are both protected (electrogalvanized, bi-
chromate plated).
The torque wrenches are precision instruments and must be handled with care to ensure an
accurate calibration. Each time the wrench is blocked or damaged, it must be immediately taken
out of service so as to undergo a control.
