SmartLine 16 User’s Guide

faulty cabling at the reporting station, or a faulty adapter card in the
reporting station.

MAC Frequency. This error occurs when a station receives data
signals of the wrong frequency. This condition should be corrected
immediately by replacing the adapter card in the reporting station or
in the NAUN.

MAC Lost Frame. A lost frame error occurs when a station
transmits on the ring and its token is returned with a missing frame.
Lost frames can be caused by stations inserting or removing from the
ring, or by faulty cabling at the reporting station. Network line noise
or a faulty adapter card inside the reporting station can also cause
this error.

MAC Internal. A station transmits this error when it detects a
recoverable internal error condition. If this error occurs, replace the
adapter card in the reporting station.

MAC Token. This error is caused when a station detects that a token
has been lost from the ring. This condition can be caused by stations
inserting or removing from the ring, network line noise, faulty
cabling at the reporting station, or a faulty adapter card in the
reporting station.
