SERVICE PROCEDURES
The material in this section is provided to allow for servicing components of the
lighting system most likely to need attention. These procedures are more
advanced than cleaning and replacing expendables. The procedures in this
section should always be performed by an experienced, trained service
technician.
» Inspect Lampholder and
Lamp (See Figure 8)
Bimonthly
Maintenance
1.
Remove lampholder assembly from top of lighthead by pulling up on
handle.
2.
Grasp lamp by ceramic base and pry from lampholder socket (do not touch
glass portion of lamp).
3.
Inspect lamp and lamp socket for the following:
a. Verify ceramic base of lamp and lamp socket is not cracked; replace
if damaged.
b. Verify no burnt socket contacts in lamp socket and electrical connector;
replace lampholder assembly if damaged.
c. Verify no heavy corrosion or pitting is present; replace lampholder
assembly if damaged.
d. Verify lamp is not discolored or damaged; replace if necessary.
e. Verify there is no insulation damage or fraying of wires leading to socket
assembly; replace lampholder if necessary.
4.
Check that lampholder cap and thermal insulators are secure and not
cracked; replace lampholder if necessary.

lamp during relamping or
cleaning. Skin oils are harm-
ful to lamp life. If glass is
touched, wipe with alcohol
and pat dry. Use clean, soft,
lint-free cloths only.
CAUTION - POSSIBLE
EQUIPMENT DAMAGE: Let
lamps cool then use cotton
gloves or cloth to remove
lamp to prevent skin oils from
contacting glass.
