COMPONENT IDENTIFICATION
The Gemini Lighting System allows full range of mechanical and optical
flexibility required for surgery. Ideal for minor surgical procedures, obstetrics,
and specialized examinations.
Before operating the light, it is important to become familiar with the location of
all major components and controls (see Figure 2).
The lighthead (see Figure 2), in a moveable yoke, is easily maneuvered from
within the sterile field by a removable sterilizable handle. One sterilizable handle
is furnished with each lighthead. Nonsterilizable handle forms a semicircle
around front half of lighthead and is secured to and rotates with the lighthead
yoke. Refer to Section 4, Operating Instructions, for lighthead movement and
positioning instructions.
Dome-shaped aluminum reflector has a painted polyurethane finish on the
outside. The bottom edge has a reinforced beaded rim protected by a gray,
vinyl bumper.
Optical system features a lamp enclosed by a color-correcting heat-absorbing
glass filter, capped to prevent glare. A 200-Watt quartz tungsten-halogen lamp
utilizes two filaments to provide pattern selection. The lamp is easily replace-
able without tools. One lamp is provided with each lighthead. Refer to Section
5, Routine Maintenance, for lamp replacement instructions.
Lighthead is controlled from a control panel located on the front of the lighthead.
•
OFF/STANDBY touch pad is used to turn the power on to the lighthead.
•
Three intensity touch pads – low, medium, and high – combined with
pattern choice, produces approximately 3000 fc (32,293 lux) to 6000 fc
(64,586 lux).
•
Small Pattern touch pad produces light pattern approximately 5" (12.7 cm)
diameter.
•
Large Pattern touch pad produces light pattern approximately 7" (17.8 cm)
diameter.
•
Electronics Power Indicator LED shows that power is available to the
electronics which operate the lamp.
•
Filament Failure Indicator LED shows that one of the filaments of the dual
filament lamp has failed. In case of filament failure, the electronics will
automatically switch power to the remaining good filament.
Stationary Adaptor provides 250° rotation of the extension arm about the
suspension tube. Swivel Arm Assembly allows for 360° rotation about end of
extension arm. Adjustable friction brakes are furnished for all movements. Refer
to Section 4, Operating Instructions, for lighthead movement and positioning;
and Section 5, Routine Maintenance, for brake adjustments.
Models are equipped with five-legged base with swivel casters. Arm is locked
in place directly across from the counterweight in the floor stand to prevent
tipping. Hospital grade electrical plug provided.
Recessed or surface mount 9" track provides additional range of coverage.
Equipped with a single lighthead, light can be moved longitudinally over
expanse of track.
