13. Select the Create Array menu option, and press Enter.
14. Choose Select Disk Drives from the menu, and press Enter to select the
disk drives.
15. Select an option from the Create Array menu and press Enter.
• Auto Setup For Performance - Choose this option to quickly set up a
RAID level 0 for best performance
OR select the option from the Array Mode RAID... option
• RAID 0 for performance (as above)
• RAID 1 for data protection
• RAID Span (increases the hard disk capacity by spanning across installed
hard disks)
Array Types
A Mirrored Array ( RAID
1 ) provides full data pro-
tection, as data can sim-
ply be copied from a
healthy disk to a replace-
ment for any failed disk.
A Striped Array ( RAID 0 )
is NOT fault-tolerant, and
therefore not a true RAID.
The failure of one drive
will result in the loss of all
data in the array. It is de-
signed to increase disk
performance by spread-
ing the I/O load across the
channels and drives.
