Scanning the Poincare Sphere

Example: Measuring the Response to a "Depolarized" Signal

Polarization Controller, Second Edition

Setting Up the Instruments

Run the sphere application with a fast scan.

Press

Make sure that Speed is set to Fast. If it is not, then

• Move the Modify knob to start the parameter selection.

• Select Fast using the Modify knob,

, or

• Press

Set the averaging time on the power meter to 1s [Press

to select T,

press

to increase T to 1s].

Running the Scan

Press

on the polarization controller.

There is a slight delay while the application is initialized, and then th
values of

/4 and

/2 on the display begin to change.

When the application is running, read the value for the response of the DUT to a
depolarized signal from the display for the power sensor.
