Adjustment and replacement of parts and

assemblies

1. Air Filter Replacement

The air filters (figure 2) should be cleaned or replaced monthly or

whenever they become clogged with dust to the point where samples

cool more slowly than normal. To change or clean the air filters:
a. Remove the filters by gripping the edge of the square finger-hole

and pulling straight out.

b. With the open sides of the finger-holes down, push the new air

filters firmly, straight in as far as they will go.

2. Fuse Replacement

The power switch and fuse holder are located beside the power cord

connector on the back panel of the instrument. Switch the power

switch to the off ( O ) position and disconnect the power cord. Use

a small flat-bladed screwdriver or similar tool to pry open the fuse

holder door. Visually check for a blown fuse. If there is any doubt,

test the fuses with a continuity checker or ohmmeter, or simply

replace them with new fuses. Double check the values marked on

the fuses. The 3900 will automatically adjust for voltages between

100VAC and 250VAC, but appropriately rated fuses must be

installed. Use 5 × 20mm, 250V, time delay (Type T) fuses. For 100-

130V operation, use 5-Amp fuses; for 200-250V operation, use 2.5-

Amp fuses.
