the LIF and other configuration parameters necessary to ensure measurement activities reflect the specific
site conditions and project requirements. The monitor requires these files and information to properly
measure and record data. Monitor activation occurs through the
Diagnostics
tool in
QstartXML
using a
Bluetooth connection.
1.
Insert the Bluetooth dongle.
2.
In
QstartXML
, verify the configuration parameters are correct, select the desired
Location
, and select
Bluetooth for the
Connect
type.
3.
Hold the blue ADS Magnet (P/N 8000-0460) on the Bluetooth activation point on the
ECHO
monitor.
Hold it until the
COMMS
LED (closest to the T-handle) begins flashing deep blue. This should take
approximately 5-10 seconds. Remove the magnet after the
COMMS
LED is flashing deep blue.

Click on the
Activate
button in the
Functions
section.
QstartXML
initiates and establishes
communication with the monitor and then downloads the appropriate information and files. Once the
activation is complete, the status bar displays an
Activate Successful
message.
QstartXML
generates
an activation event log that is available for viewing through the log viewer within
QstartXML
.
Note:
Some of the measurements input into
QstartXML,
such as the manhole depth and physical
offset, will have to be updated after installation to reflect the actual values of the site.
Increasing Bluetooth Dongle Signal Strength
If a better signal is needed for the Bluetooth dongle, particularly to keep the computer a safe distance away
from the manhole after installation, a USB extension cable can be purchased. Further information can be
