Media Type
Determines the type of media your network is
using.

Auto Select
allows the NIC to automatically
select the Media Type for you.
■
If you set the NIC
Duplex
setting to
Auto Select
, the
Media Type
is
automatically set to

.

If you set the NIC
Duplex
setting manually,
you must set the
Media Type
setting
manually.
Note
: If you are running Windows 2000,
changes made to the Media Type setting
though the 3Com NIC Diagnostics are not
reflected in the registry unless you also
change the Media Select property setting in
Windows 2000:
1. In the Device Manager window,
double-click Network adapters.
2. Right-click the 3CR990 NIC and select
Properties.
3. Select the Advanced tab.
4. Select Media Select in the property list, and
make the appropriate setting change in the
Value list.

Self Healing
Monitors firmware heartbeat and interrupt stalls,
and tries to automatically reset the NIC.
Also monitors link status and reports changes.
