The following table describes the related labels in this screen.
14.7 MAC Forwarding
A static MAC address entry is an address that has been manually entered in the MAC address
learning table. Static MAC addresses do not age out. When you set up static MAC address
rules, you are setting static MAC addresses for a port. Devices that match static MAC address
rules on a port can only receive traffic on that port and cannot receive traffic on other ports.
This may reduce unicast flooding.
To open the configuration
screen, right-click on the switch in the Device List Panel, and click
Configuration
>
Switch Configuration

Make sure to select this check box to activate your rule. You may temporarily deactivate
a rule without deleting it by deselecting this check box.
Name
Type a descriptive name (up to 32 printable ASCII characters) for this rule. This is for
identification purpose only.
Action
If the options are not applicable, packets that match the MAC address and VLAN ID
specified will be discarded.
Select
Discard source
to drop frame from the source MAC address (specified in the
MAC
field). The switch can still send frames to the MAC address.
Select
Discard destination
to drop frames intended for the destination MAC address
(specified in the
MAC
field). The switch can still receive frames originating from the
MAC address.
Select
Discard source
and
Discard destination
to block traffic to/from the MAC
address specified in the
MAC
field.
MAC
Type a MAC address in valid MAC address format, that is, six hexadecimal character
pairs.
VID
Type the VLAN group identification number.

Click
OK
to save the changes and close this screen.
Close

to close this screen. All unsaved settings will be lost.
