Printing PDF Directly
- ContentsBridge -
As this printer is equipped with ContentsBridge, you can send PDF files directly to the
printer for printing without using the printer driver. Since the print data is sent to the printer
directly, you can print the data more easily and faster than when using the printer driver.
There are the following two ways to print PDF files directly.
■
Using ContentsBridge
You can print PDF files in either of the following ways: using our ContentsBridge Utility
software or sending files directly to the printer using the Ipr command.
■
Using the PostScript feature
When the printer has a PostScript Software Kit (optional) installed, you can use the
PostScript feature to send PDF files directly to the printer.
When printing PDF files directly using the USB parallel port, use the ContentsBridge Utility.
To print correctly with the ContentsBridge feature, it is recommended that memory of 384 MB or more is available.
PDF files that can be printed
Supported PDF files are of Adobe Acrobat 4 and Adobe Acrobat 5 (except for
some functions added in PDF 1.4). To print PDF files which contains the LZW-
compressed object, optional ContentsBridge Extension Kit is required.
●
LZW employs the LZW algorithm licensed under U.S. patent number 4,558,302.
●
You may not print PDF files directly with the printer depending on how the file is created. In that
case, open the PDF file and print it using the printer driver.
For information about using the ContentsBridge Utility, refer to “3.9.1 Printing PDF Files Using the
ContentsBridge Utility” (P.106). For information about using lpr command, refer to “3.9.2 Printing PDF Files
without Using the ContentsBridge Utility” (P.110).
When using the PostScript feature to print PDF files directly, refer to “PDF” (P.127) to set [Print Mode] of
[PDF] on the control panel, then see “3.9.2 Printing PDF Files without Using the ContentsBridge Utility”
(P.110) to start printing.
